ØVI - Hedera Helix
"‘Hedera Helix’ is a statement from a new band."
Artist: ØVI Album Title: Hedera Helix Record Label: Independent Genre: Blackened Death For Fans Of: Ne Obliviscaris, Gojira, Dimmu Borgir, Nine Inch Nails Release Date: February 25th, 2026
This is exactly what an EP should be. ‘Hedera Helix’ is a statement from a new band. ØVI is announcing its presence with a furious declaration. These four songs are relentless. Why waste time? Their brand of blackened death is more reminiscent of modern dissonant death metal than OSDM with tremolo picking and Satanism. I would describe the music as busy. It’s not too busy, but there aren’t many spaces to take a breath. There is a brief clean section in ‘Penanggalan’ that has a unique feel and a quick burst of alternate-picked chugs in ‘Absolve’, but the rest of the EP is a relentless assault on the senses. ‘Hedera Helix’ is fresh, and I hope it gets this band signed.

I love this. Track 2 "Penanggalan" those are some wicked cool effects on the vocals.
